had to be done!
After a long winter of you tubing, reading reports and lusting after! I finally treated myself to a royal enfield interceptor 650. And gotta say i'm loving it. Keeping my gsa 800 for longer trips the enfield is for playing out on.

Re: had to be done!
What a great choice indeed, I love their style/shape/design myself. I can maybe see me on one in the future.
The Orange crush version is a cool colour I think;

Re: had to be done!
Hope you have the weather to enjoy it.
Had a sit on a couple at the Scottish bike show, felt better, look better and much better value than the "UK" made option.
Not going to swap my Z900RS for one though

Re: had to be done!
I've ridden one...an accurate recreation of a BSA 650 of 1971, but with no vibration, more gears, better brakes, better suspension and an electric start.
Great fun....i'll get one when I'm too old and feeble to ride my KTM 950 (won't be long!)

Re: had to be done!
Fantastic price for the amount of metal you are getting. I could not really pick any holes on the quality either. Unfortunately they are too physically big for SWMBO so we are still looking at that *cough* "UK" option.
No wonder they are apparently selling loads. They have nailed it.

Interested in one of these, love the looks, especially in that white/red striped tank colour, but been totally unaware up till now. What's this 'UK made' and 'UK' version on about? Please clue me in. Also, what kind of price are they? and what about dealerships and warranty - widely available? test rides?
Thanks in advance.

Re: had to be done!
That'll be Triumphs, not a bad choice, but reassuringly expensive by comparison to the Enfield. The Triumph Bonnevile and street twins are made in Thailand by the way and not worse for that, the Enfield is made in India, and not worse for that either. Both are widely available, for testing and buying.Mosel Bikes wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2020 2:03 pm Interested in one of these, love the looks, especially in that white/red striped tank colour, but been totally unaware up till now. Re: had to be done!
Realistically priced bikes targeted at real world riders that can afford to buy instead of pcp deals. Maybe not up to euro/jap quality or performance but I bet Royal Enfield are denting their sales figures.

Re: had to be done!
The RE Interceptor (hi bars) is the best-seller in the 126 -650 class in the UK.
That's an impressive figure, especially given that it's diluted by the RE Conti GT (low bars), which is counted separately ...and also by the RE Himalayan, which is the third-best seller in the class.
I rode an Interceptor, and loved it, but I think the riding position might actually be more comfortable on the Conti GT, if you were going any distance.
My verdict: "The best BSA 650 Lightning ever made!"
The engine is real ally...no lacquer as far as I could tell.
I just never liked the look of the 'new' Triumph Thailand twins compared to the old Meriden ones (I think they were trying too hard, lost the essential simplicity of the classic Triumph and ended up with a recreation of a Honda Superdream), but the RE 650 is lovely.
