Re: Chinese bikes?
you can't weld cheese you just heat it up, spread it around and cover it in pickle ....... a bit like the cars of my youth.
After owning my Himalayan for nearly 2 years and my GS for 12 years you learn not to take notice of internet rumours .
Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

Re: Chinese bikes?
CF Moto has a 10 year long cooperation with KTM.
They produce small KTMs for the Chineese market.
And they use KTMs engine,in their "own" machines.
There is a CF Moto 800. That has the KTM 790 engine.

So it is getting close to "KTM quality" with "Chinese Price".
Prices (for Zontes, CF MOTO....) are really good. Since they come more complete,
And you do not have to start spending a lot of money on asseccories.
Crash bars, hand guards, bash plate.....is include in base price.
The question will be more to selecte Chinese or Indian made bikes.
Depending of what will be imported to Europe.

Re: Chinese bikes?
With those new KTM parallel twins, I think there are some owners who have discovered they have paid a KTM price for a Chinese bike.

Re: Chinese bikes?
Is there a UK forum or Facebook group for Chinese built Benelli owners?

Yea but with the plans for the 790 and other engines to also be made in China then it becomes a made in China bike entirely.
A bit like what has been happening for decades with high end mountain bikes, they are all made in Taiwan with a designed in UK/USA/WHEREVER sticker placed somewhere more prominent than the made in taiwan sticker.
In reality even the designed in wherever claim is dubious as mostly the company buyer just goes over to Taiwan picks a design from the Taiwan manufacturers catalogue, adds a request for few cosmetic tweaks , maybe a different shock - et voila its now designed in UK/USA/WHEREVER
P.S. Taiwanese bike manufacturers are the best in the world, Ive had a few genuine made in the West 'hand crafted' frames and they were all nothing but trouble
PPS
Most of the bikes Giant makes do not have Giant written on themTaiwan-based manufacturer reported a 5.3% increase in overall revenue for 2019 — a record NT$63.45 billion ($2.1 billion).

Re: Chinese bikes?
lots of crash helmets are made by THH in Taiwan--they are a big manufacturer and also make for well known brands such as Bell--with a price mark up of course. I've had a couple--great value and correctly tested and approved. I don't get the anti Chinese manufacturing quality thing. Most major companies get parts or whole bikes and cars(and CAT diesels etc) made in China--as long as the quality, and quality control, is there does it really matter?---I know that we would all like to buy "British" but economies of scale and profit margins drive the sources. We are still good at low volume specialist stuff, but can't compete with the world sourcing situation--although things are shifting slightly as China "catches up" on labour and material costs.

Re: Chinese bikes?
Due to the rear puncture on my Benelli I've been forced to get to know the bike more than I'd have wished but I have to say I'm pleased with how well the bike is built. Yes it's heavy and over engineered due to old technology materials but at the price of under £4.5k for a new 500cc twin giving 70mpg it's good value.
Recently I heard that the standard Tesla model 3's are now being built completely in China whereas the performance model is still 'assembled' in USA and looking at some of the other EV's that are planned to be built in China I'm not sure how European manufacturers are going to compete ......... apart from relying on badge snobbery for mainly Chinese components assembled in Europe.
Can't help thinking that the flood gates are about to be opened ........ the history of British car and bike industry repeating itself but on European/Japanese/World wide manufacturers???

Re: Chinese bikes?
I've just joined the Chinese bike owners club. I got a Suzuki DL250. Its built in China, by a joint venture between Suzuki and a Chinese company. I don't know how much input Suzuki had, but it seems OK to me. We'll see after it's been used and abused for a British winter.
