That's what we were told at the show by one of the chaps on the Yamaha stand.
Speculation only

£8500 may be speculation but as the XSR700 is £6995 it shouldn't be too far above or people will just stump up the extra and buy an Africa Twin. Let's face it if you don't do "full on" off road why not just save some pennies and get the XSR ?

I also spoke to the rep on the Yamaha stand and he told me that the T7 would be priced in the high eights

You can blame Brexit.

European bikes are obviously priced in €

Japanese bikes built for Europe are also priced in €.

When setting price structures for the coming year, the exchange ratio £/€ is a significant factor for the UK market company...

They, and the companies that they buy their currency futures from, are obviously expecting further declines in the £ in the coming financial year.

You can blame Brexit if you like, and it is probably having an impact on the exchange rate
However back in 1999 the exchange rate was way better for us than it is now, 0.66 then and 0.89 now. It has generally slipped all the way through the history of the Euro. There are many more factors to the current world economic climate than Brexit.

Big effect on bike prices as all (except Triumph and Norton) are made outside uk and priced to sell in Euro either direct or from European distributors

You can directly link it to a worsening value of the £ post the 2016 referendum

Everything we import has risen in price unless you have missed it

Of course it’s had an effect, I’m just pointing out that there are also other economic forces at work.
The USA China thing for one....in case you missed it.

Bikes produced outside of the U.K. have been steadily rising in price since about 2009 after staying pretty much static from 1998.

I’m not defending or attacking the Brexit referendum result. Merely stating facts in currency exchange and bike prices.

The 790 Adventure is only €12,399 in Spain, the Adventure R is €13,299, and I thought Spain was expensive for new bikes.
Current bike is a Yamaha T7
