Ktm 1090 adventure r
Hello I'm about to buy a 1090 adventure r and was just wondering if these bikes have plenty power or do you think they are slightly under powered? I've just sold my tiger xcx as it was just so boring to ride I'm really after another bike that will tick the boxes and be just as good on road as it is off road . What is the top speed of these 1090s?
Re: Ktm 1090 adventure r
I’ve been looking at either a new 1090 or second hand 1190, I think wither should have enough power

I spent 3 days on a 1090r in Portugal recently. Absolutely amazing bike I thought. It's the only bike I've been on that I would consider changing my 950SE for. Sport mode is simply mental. The acceleration is like a sports bike.
But......I don't have anything like a tiger to compare it to. Suggest you get yourself a couple of test rides booked to make sure.

How do Mike,
Did you just hire the bike and do your own thing or did you ride with a KTM off road company?
I’m thinking of taking the family to Portugal this year but want to combine it with a couple of days on the trails if possible.
Any info appreciated
Cheers Chris

Flew into porto and was reviewing www.freeridespirit.pt for abr. Article will be out in July august edition of the mag. Free ride spirit are expanding on their dirt bike tours and including self ride (and guided) on their 1090r and 1290r bikes. Don't think their website has been updated yet to include the new adventure tours but think they are available from September. Can't say much more until the mag comes out......it's July...so in theory should be any day now.

1090r is a missile!
I just had 3 days on one guiding punters at the Sweetlamb Adventure Rally for KTM UK.
I had no chicken strips left on knobblies and it went up every grassy bank I pointed it at
Surprisingly sane at speed on rocky lanes. Dunno how but it keeps going straight even when you land the front wheel with the bars twisted

Well it wasn't my 1090r, only had 20miles on it when they gave it to me......

I may be wrong but I believe the 1090R has a BHP of around 160 which is really more than anyone needs, I ride a bike with about 100BHP and really enjoy that fine.........it's plenty all day long, it's how you use the power.Chunky27 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 6:25 pm Hello I'm about to buy a 1090 adventure r and was just wondering if these bikes have plenty power or do you think they are slightly under powered? Strange you ask about top speed as I'm sure you'll rarely use that nowadays, no need.
I've experienced good riders on 100BHP machines out riding guys on 150BHP sports bikes in the past, sometimes less is more.....!
