Great vid. My first bike was an RM125e followed by a TS50X, TS125X, DR350S and I've still got a 1992 DR650R in the garage.

That is just stunning. Not sure they looked that good even brand new!

Must have taken ages to source all the parts and restore everything. Amazing piece of work.

Are you going to ride it, or just stare at it in the living room? :D
Thanks Dave, I would love to put it in the living room - I'd settle for the kitchen.
I've tried to explain that it's a Work of Art, a Thing of Beauty etc
Apparently, I should be grateful that's it's in the garage and not outside under a tarpaulin to make room for her car. :D :D
It's SORN at the mo - I might get it out for little ride in the summer.

Regarding parts - thank goodnes for the internet.
The hardest item to find was the seat pan.
I got one shipped over from Oregon in the end.
The foam and cover couldn't be used but the important seat pan was solid and rust free.
Phil at PK Classics did a great job. He had the cover, but needed to invest in a new mould to make the foam for me.
I got a NOS Speedo from Australia
Other bits n pieces from Finland, France, Cyprus and of course UK
Fowlers Bristol had nearly all the new bolts, nuts, springs, bushes, grommets, cable tidy etc that I needed.

I had exactly the same model, bought new in 1982 and used three weeks later in a long distance trial on the Cotswolds while I was still running it in

The plastics were bloody awful, I'm not even sure they were actually 'plastic', I replaced mine with 'Preston Petty' items , that restoration is a total credit to you 8-)

Proper old skool photo of my bike

Thanks Bob. Nice Pic BTW.
This is me on my way to college back in 1983!!

Thanks CB
It took 4 years.
I was very much a winter job.
I was happy to dip in out as time allowed.

I kind of hope that it was a real heap of shit, to make your hard work even more impressive....
I'd love to say that I rebuilt the engine, overhauled the gear box etc,
but that would be way beyond what I could do.
I can just about do the oil, chain, sprockets, brake pads, wheel bearings etc on my bikes
The engine, gearbox and petrol tank were great, the rest was OK but shabby.
I strated taking off the bits that needed attention and
before I knew it, I was down to the frame, engine, gearbox and oil tank.
Then everything went back on rechromed, powder coated, metal polished and painted (Suzuki Champagne Gold 08C).

Cheers

I had my best seasons of clubman Enduro racing on a Suzuki RMX250 8-) . That was in in 1993 and 1994 :o . Basically an RM250 crosser with lights on and a slighter wider ratio gearbox. Super supple, light enough and fairly quick. This was taken at Whaddon, Bucks in '93.
