Re: Building a rally bike or trying anyway
I finally got all the wires off and ready for me to decide what was being kept and what was going as I dont feel I need it all or at least not as much and I am changing and adding extra fuse boxes anyway along the way so first was the unravelling
then came the bit were I kept some and got rid of what I didn't want and this is what I am left with for now the only wires left on the bike are the starter wires the big black for the starter relay and the big brown for ground All things built not bought . The only way is adventure .

Re: Building a rally bike or trying anyway
And the only thing left on the bike now to take of really is the radiators so I checked them over and iam getting ready to take them off
the left as a slight bend in it so will have to try and fix that up and the right as a few chips in but no leaks ..
Think they could possibly do with a lick of paint but never done that before is it possible to paint radiators anyone ??????All things built not bought . The only way is adventure .

Re: Building a rally bike or trying anyway
The swingarm iam gonna leave on and just clean up and check the guides and rollers as I changed the spherical bearings etc 4 months back to put it through the m.o.t after finding the insides were a little worn
so should be OK though same with the rear shock just clean it up and other than that now iam just waiting on parts now ...All things built not bought . The only way is adventure .

Re: Building a rally bike or trying anyway
No its not a crack it's just a deep scratch were something as hit it underneath or possibly the owner before me hit it with something trying to get the bearings out instead of pressing it like me with a g clamp and some sockets. I have looked at protection for it as it is possible it was something hitting it underneath but couldn't find much unless a got a fast way linkage guard which are relatively very expensive for what they are and iam not sure they make them for this bike so don't even no if it's possible as most things I get for the bike are from other bikes ktms yamahas etc . I have been looking at fabricating a bash plate to fit though and thought about a little skid bit coming down to cover it a little but iam still in the planning stage for that . I am just concentrating more on electrics for now while my mind is set on that ...Tonibe63 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2017 1:06 pmIs that a crack to the right on the pivot link?Mikekitts81 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2017 11:29 pm IMG_20170811_220657_623.jpgIMG_20170811_220657_624.jpgIMG_20170811_220657_626.jpg so should be OK though same with the rear shock just clean it up and other than that now iam just waiting on parts now ...

Re: Building a rally bike or trying anyway
Went out again today In The garage another day at worming on the bike changed a lot of connection for the new ones the super seals had come in the post finally
Only to find more splits in wires and wires that looked like they wouldn't even conduct electric but I started with all the good stuff what I could keep changing into the super seals they are working a treat and they are said to be the best connections to keep all the electrics waterproof I guess time will tell ...
so I put the rear frame back on for time being and started at work on the wiring ...Only to find more splits in wires and wires that looked like they wouldn't even conduct electric but I started with all the good stuff what I could keep changing into the super seals they are working a treat and they are said to be the best connections to keep all the electrics waterproof I guess time will tell ...

Re: Building a rally bike or trying anyway
Pick my placements for a more tidy set up the fuse box fit in a previous hole on had to drill one everything else I could fit in exciting holes and I think it as worked out a lot better than it was ..
The ecu/cdi unit fit snug on the side in between frame The flasher unit and relay unit fit snug on the other side of the ecu in some pre drilled holes that were already there .. the battery and selniod fit perfectly in place with the fuse box and I think all in all it looks a lot more tidy in there now ... just need to take it all back to peices now and finish a few bits and ends off with super seals and wiring
