Scrambler Desert Sled

Post by FAT MATT »

Finally, what the scrambler should have been:

How long before we see one at a Rally getting dirty? Or will this become a hipster XT500 only seen dashing along the A40?

That's a very nice looking bike. I'd risk being seen in Shoreditch on that ;)

Nice looking bike but I think it will be expensive if you drop it given the lack of protection

Wrong side of 200kg and at £9.3k before you start ticking boxes I'd wait till the hipsters move onto their next fad.

As a Scrambler owner, there's nothing wrong with the stock bike, unless you go really off piste. Mine was fine in Morocco, on stock tyres and suspension. I fitted a decent home made bash plate and crash bars just in case. The low ground clearance gave my steel bash plate some work, but other than that it was fine. It did everything the other bikes did, including a new CCM, but was far more comfortable riding down throuh Spain! Here's a clip of mine, with a few other videos on my Youtube channel. I'm a big Scrambler fan, and actually enjoy riding past the fully loaded GS riders looking down their noses at me. I'm talking about the guys who've crashed into the window at Touratech but go no further than tarmac roads in Europe :-)

I immediately thought of you when I saw the desert sled Nick and you're experiences with the scrambler.

The Desert sled is more what I'd hoped for when Ducati announced the project. I'm very much looking forward to taking a look at this next week at the NEC.

Wonder if triumph will do something similar?
