Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of trading in my '08 plate XT660Z for an '03 plate BMW R1150R. I wanted some more power and comfort, and for now am happy to have a sports tourer rather than an 'adventure' bike.
Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about the BMW before I go any further with this?
Thanks in advance!
Jon

Re: R1150R
it's a road orientated GS without the added price tag
Single spark without servo?

Not sure about servo/spark, I only passed it by at a warehouse store but looked good.
Not sure how realistic an 'adventure' trip will be in the near future, and your description sums up what I may be looking for!

Hi Jon,
It's a great bike and very reliable (thumbs) It's a lot different to the yam,and may take a while for you to get used to it, but when you do you'll have a ball. Just give it a bit of time. It's like putting on your favorite pair of slippers :whistle. Ish.
Enjoy

Re: R1150R
I'd sell my Yam privately, then buy the BM - the trade in deal was awful. I should roughly break even to the value of £3k.
Thanks Al, it sounds like a more sedate and powerful ride than the 660Z, just what I'm after!

Lovely bike, I nearly bought one many years ago, I love the styling of them....! I'm guessing an 03 model is probably single spark and not twin...(?).

Re: R1150R
I had the R in between GS models, a freer breathing exhaust adds a bit more character, and reduces the weight as well. Many 1150GS bits fit the R as well.
