Hi all,
Remember when the CCM was in the pipeline. People on here would fight like cat and dog for page after page. With the PR7 I'm seeing a lot less of that. Why?

CCM450 VS AJP PR7
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Better engine, better gearing?*Brenhden wrote:Hi all,

Styling is a personal thing though....
* or at least not as contentious. The 600 motor is a proven bit of engineering.
Re: CCM450 VS AJP PR7
Interestingly, its no more proven than the 450 in the CCM, that is to say both are actually well proven, its just that keyboard warriors of various types seemed to think they knew better than BMW and Kymco (thumbs)SteveR wrote:Better engine, better gearing?*Brenhden wrote:Hi all,

Also, I have a feeling that by this time next year, assuming the PR7 is out early in the new year, we will know far more about the true "adventure bike" market via sales, so according to KTM research on the subject, the PR7 will be a massive fail, and if it isnt, and is a raging success, only then might we see some interesting bikes come from KTM in the next 3-5 years.
Re: CCM450 VS AJP PR7
If it's a choice between the two bikes, I think potentially the AJP will be a bit more powerful and a bit cheaper.
But the CCM will have a better quality frame/suspension.
I think the CCM is a bit underpowered for some folk, which it could be if blasting round Europe on motorways is your bag.
I prefer the looks of the AJP and if it's priced keenly they should be able to sell every one they make.

Because people are not trying to claim the AJP is something that it's not.Brenhden wrote:Hi all,

Re: CCM450 VS AJP PR7
I do like the CCM better than the AJP purely based on looks as I haven't been near either of them.
But my gut feeling says: "Go for the bigger engine"
Why ? I don't know to be honest. Maybe because I have a similar weighted and engined bike now (BMW G650 X) and I really like that.
I think the AJP could be a good deal cheaper than the CCM based on that the wages in Portugal are lower than in the UK.
Re. Market research by KTM: Any facts about that ?
KTM might say it's not viable purely based on not being able to sell the numbers they want rather than making a profit that'll keep our staff in their jobs and the company still making a profit but this is just how I would look at it.

I hear on good authority that starting prices for ccm will soon be £7500 with some very tempting pcp rates. Suddenly it seems that bit more appealing.

I'd be taking a very close look at the conditions on a PCP purchase, they might make an adventure bike a lot less of an adventure.nathanthepostman wrote:I hear on good authority that starting prices for ccm will soon be £7500 with some very tempting pcp rates. Re: CCM450 VS AJP PR7
Indeed Andy, but that's true of all adventure bikes. It doesn't stop a great deal of gs et al now being sold on pcp. Depends on whether you plan on buying it at the end or not.
