Got a 120 mitas rockrider on my TTR 250, nearly the same bike I suppose...ish. Hope that helps.

Brenhden wrote: Thu Jun 10, 2021 10:27 am Morning all,

I shudder to ask but I'm a bit stumped on tyres for my 1995 DR200. The rear 100/90-18 seems impossible to get a 50/50 tyre. I've found Anakee Wild and TKC80 at 110/80 -18. How far out of size spec is it ok to go?

Thanks
Bren

As a sweetner here is a photo of a shonky alu luggage guard I made out an offcut...

You'll be fine with that Brenhden, as a bonus you'll be approx 10mm lower to the ground as well :D

In the interests of completeness I got these:
Metzeler Enduro 3 Sahara 120/80 18 and 90/90 21.
I noticed later that one of the spare tyres is a 140 so I was worried about nothing...
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Interesting, I have the same tyres on the Husky 701 except a chunky 140 on the back. I have been very surprised how well they grip off road but I use this bike mainly in drier conditions rather than full on sloppy mud where a more knobbly tread would be better. Of course, a more aggressive knobbly would get shredded very quickly on a larger cc bike.

I'm no expert but I assume the Enduro 3 tyre compound is something a bit more advanced than on a cheaper tyre, being fairly soft and hence grippy, while still wearing well.

On the road faultless, secure and grippy. The 701 is capable of some quite serious speeds so this is important I feel ;)

For a smaller bike I would just stick on a full knobbly, I reckon that the Maxxis MaxxCross IT is the go-to tyre for trail use. From my experience they feel safe on the road and wear well, perhaps helped by the fact that you are starting with a good deep tread pattern so lots of rubber to get through!

3 grand blimey. I have enough bits and a frame to make one which I have been pondering whether to do. Even if I sold it for say 2k it would be worth doing now....

What exhausts are people running on their DRZ400?
I use the bike for green lanes and adventure riding so looking for quiet really and any weight saving or reduction in heat is nice.

I've currently got a standard S header with the token patina and a random Remus can the previous owner forced on.

Seen the Black Widow and Delkevic full systems which appear to be really good value but don't like how low the Black Widow silencer seems to sit and apparently the Delkevic one is obnoxiously loud

And yes, "standard" is a valid opton
