Oil filter, air filter, engine oil change, clutch oil change, hydraulic clutch bleed and fresh DOT4.

All ready for crashing it into something tomorrow at Steve's. :D

Time to get my '98 Africa Twin back on the road after 6 yrs unused, having used its wheels elsewhere in the interim. Started off with dismantling the rear shock linkage to clean, check and re-grease - two of the bearing dust seals had some deformation on their lips, so renewed them. Also removed the chain and final drive sprocket, with new C&S kit on order, and checked the final drive shaft splines, which remain fine. SMPro wheels have been checked, the rear having being re-spoked, ready for me to fit new tyres and balance.

Yeah, the occasional times I check the splines is always with some trepidation as they do have a bit of a reputation.... some of the photos posted on xrv.org have been horrific. But staying with an OEM sprocket & 70mm* or so of slack seems to pay off for keeping them in good shape. I really don't fancy having to replace the output shaft, if they're even still available!
*70mm from the underside of the swing arm to the chain under tension, at the centre point.

Fitted a dart fly screen. More cosmetic than wind resistance.
