Saddle the bike up ready for it's first Eurozone trip since 2017, let's hope the old legs can hold the fecker up  .
An added bonus was finding my hidden 'holiday' wallet in the hard panniers with 290 Euros in it ...... result :D

Road tested the Pampera today after again having had to strip out the clutch plates, total solid mess that had to be prized apart once out of the basket.

Oil changed again to mineral and it made a big difference, but I think that I might need another change soon though just to try and flush the system.

Glad of Bill's extra reserve tank today as the rascal ran dry about 4 miles from home, still a good day out.

I'd clean the clutch plates with brake and clutch cleaner, then soak the lot in mineral oil for a couple of days before reassembly

Synthetic 'gear' oil + Pampera clutch = misery. New clutch pack is about £100! An expensive lesson for me.

Rock Oil 10W-40 MA Approved MINERAL is the way to go.

I understand the former importers actually tell people to use synthetic oil in their Pampera gearboxes, but they are simply wrong to do this. It's very bad advice, and the penny should have dropped by now. Perhaps they have a container full of clutch packs they need to shift. Perhaps there's another explanation. Who knows.

And those Euros are probably worth a lot more than when you got them!

Needs finishing. I got 400x600mm 1mm thick steel sheet. I can make about 10 pairs, if different fit needed. Took me about 20min.ImageImageImageImageImageImage

I finished making a plate to mount my Givi Trekker top box, cutting & drilling the 4mm Ali plate was quite a task as I’m more used to working in wood, a pillar drill would have made the job easier but I resisted the temptation to buy one as it would get much use in fairness, I’m suited with how it turned out tho.

Word of warning here. You all want to be aware of these gizmos and bollox on your bikes.
A bloke on a BMW Adventure bike of some description was riding his bike following a route, missed a junction where he should have stopped and at the same time my sister was driving her car with my dad in the passenger seat and he ploughed straight into the side of them and went under the car, it was only a Fiat Tipo not a big 4x4, the bloke on the bike died instantly. The police said my sister could not have done anything to avoid the situation and all blame was on the bike rider.
I don't ride with any of that crap on my bikes. I bought a TomTom Rider from someone on this forum and to be honest it's a pile of poop and i don't use it.

A sat nav or phone dosent take over control from the rider, it’s just a navigation aid that’s all. Your still supposed to observe the Roads, Junctions, and ride by the Highway Code!

Don't get me started on this...infotainment touchscreens and satnav screens in cars have led to a 35% reduction in awareness of what's going on outside the vehicle.
I won't have them in my car.

Greetings,

In all honesty I like sat nav for the screen picture showing me the layout of the roads and heads up that it shows me that for example 'X' roads on I will need to make a turn. I also like 'speed limiter' facility in places that I am not familiar with as I can concentrate on the conditions and not wonder about the plethora of speed cameras. Initially I didn't trust adaptive speed control but I find it to be an aid to motorway driving.

Both are additional aids to but do not remove from experience and care. As the driver/rider I remain ultimately responsible.

TTFN

Hugh.
