And have ordered parts for a front end refreshment.
Brakes, fork seals...
For this type of bike, you have to get your hands dirty.
Not only look at the odometer, and hand it over for service.
When it is time.
what have you done to your bike today??

I have raised the handlebars on my GTR 1400
I wanted to raise the handlebars.
=> Less bend of the back
=> Less pressure on the arms
=> Easier to handle at low speed
=> less "sport", more "touring". Style of the sport touring machine
But... the handle bars are aluminum parts.
Not normal tube (22 mm or 1") that you can replace.
But China and E-bay solved that. By providing me with aluminium spacers..
I have the Garmin holder mounted using the same bolts.
So the bolts supplied only in fitted 2 out of 6 places.
I had to get hold of some extra long ones (M8x100)
(The black ones)
Mounting done without GPS holder.
GPS holder mounted.
Job done. easy fix.

Yesterday fitted a seat front riser to level the seat on my nc750s .. it slopes too much forward for comfort .. big difference.. better handling, stability, and comfort.
It didn't fit exactly but the guy is sending me a better fitting one.

Re: what have you done to your bike today??
Last commute into Glasgow today; bloody freezing this morning and rain expected for the next two so back to being a regular on the train after 18 months or so...... till spring.
The roads have been getting busier and busier, though everyone seems to have forgotten how to drive (especially indicators), so its no quicker by bike anymore, just a bit more convenient.
So I gave it (Tiger 900) a pat on the tank and the promise of a good deep clean when weather permits. Local weekend rides only for a while.

Re: what have you done to your bike today??
That's exactly what I used to do Elmer. Bike commuting in the Summer and train or car in the Winter. I had a ZRX1200 just for the commute into London. There's no way I was going to commute on diesel-strewn wet/icy roads into London, freezing my nuts off, then put on a suit! But it was always a bit of a sad day when the cold mornings drew in and she had to be put away for 5 or 6 months.
Ironically I then used to freeze my nuts off stood on a railway platform waiting for the 7.16 into Paddington

Re: what have you done to your bike today??
Yesterday I changed the front wheel bearings on the PR7, which was pretty easy and they have thought it out as you can use the axle as a drift to punch out the spacer in the wheel hub that in turn pushes the old bearing out! very clever design.
I also fitted a new Michelin enduro medium to the front end ready for the winter as the TKC 80 I didn't really have confidence in. And it went on with no fuss or grazed knuckles!!!! its sooo much easier when you have the right gear like a tyre changer/bead breaker, 4 tyre levers, proper lube, and a valve puller for the new tube. I took my time and it was sweet as. I actually quite like doing tyres now hehe...

In my younger years I couldn't afford the train so biked it all year round.daveuprite wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 6:15 am Ironically I then used to freeze my nuts off stood on a railway platform waiting for the 7.16 into Paddington
Two pairs of jeans with waterproofs on top.
T-shirt, jumper, jumper jacket and a scarf so tight you couldn't turn your head.
Gloves and marigolds over the top.
No bike boots so wellies with extra socks.
Used to have to get changed in the back room of the office as it was strictly shirt and tie then.
It's a wonder I (and others) survived, reactions were slow and eyelashes with icicles was common, as was a frozen stiff visor. (I can hear the Hovis music)
Now it's just sit in a warm car till a couple of minutes before the train is due, then stroll over and hop on. Even been known to take a coffee with me. Gone soft!

You had marigolds and a scarf? You lucky bastard. We used to dream of marigolds. I just had a vine leaf to keep my bits warm....Elmer J Fudd wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 9:14 pmIn my younger years I couldn't afford the train so biked it all year round.daveuprite wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 6:15 am Ironically I then used to freeze my nuts off stood on a railway platform waiting for the 7.16 into Paddington
