Oh, mine still works (mostly), still looks good despite living outside. Real world figures between 80 to 90mpg and cruises all day at 65mph loaded or unloaded although try and tuck your luggage behind you as much as possible as wide pianists and headwinds knock that down to mid to high fifties.

The Facebook group still bubbles over if you're interested.

Hello,

Does anybody have user manual and service manual and could share them? I need to do some work on my fresh acquired Terra Adventure but I have absolutely no clue.

Thank you in advance,
Vincent

That's odd, the version I saw was in English!

Have you asked the importers? Apart from that most of the tables, diagrams, etc. should be fairly obvious but of there's any smallish thing just ask me - use the contact form on my blog.

It's a shame it's been shots as that would make using on-line translations, dictionaries, etc. difficult to use. But most of the vocabulary is fairly obvious, especially for chapter headings and a bit of lateral thinking, e.g. fuel = combustible!

But a few vocabulary tips that aren't obvious - while my tea cools!

clutch - embrague
to tighten - apretar
starter - arranque
handle or lever - manilla

There's also a multilingual parts catalogue on the second page of the list in the bottom left corner of the page.

Cheers

Well, let's just say I have absolutely no clue about motorcycles (or cars really, I've done A licence (I'm 25) literally a week ago, still scared shitless going above 70km/h) and needed to get one ASAP because of very unstable accommodation period I've found myself in. I've bought Terra Adventure, 11k miles, year 2009 that is in good condition aside from few minor patches of rust here and there. The problem is, it wasn't prepared for season and previous owner did very little maintenance before winter other than lifting it up and locking in the garage - it passed MOT* but I was advised by previous owner to change the oil and tyres will not last until next season. I've got all the paperwork with it but no owner's manual.

*-edit: MOT advices to take a look at steering (a bit "notchy") and few spokes in rear wheel are loose but that's something outside of my capability to sort out on my own, I've ruined one too many bicycle wheels in my life...

Given nearly non-existent presence of Terra's owners in the internet (atleast it's English side) as you can imagine I've found myself in the middle of the ocean. Possibly not the best choice for the first bike but it's the only one that posess decent offroad capability in 125cc segment which are highly desirable given my current countryside location. I also had literally 0 tools up until now.

I went shopping and I've got myself new semi-synth 10w40 oil Motul 4L, new oil filter, iridium spark plug, decent 5-25Nm Torque Wrench and wide set of sockets with it, Graduated Pourer 1L, Flexible Funnel and 10 Litre Oil/Fluid Drain and Recycle Container. Is there anything else I need at this point?

Gonna get new tyres in May. Not sure what to pick for best wet tarmac grip that still has acceptable qualities offroad.

Also, I've heard that you can adjust rear suspension to lower the seat a bit on Adventure variant. Is that true?

Workshop manual is and I'm already diving into it, user manual (called Manual Derbi Terra on the sidebar, uploaded by Miguel Santos) has only pictures of the Spanish part.

That's natural enough, I just looked through for book's 'written' by people with English looking names ... bearing in ind the bikes are Spanish there¡s bound to be more there.

The basic maintenance you're talking about is universal to all bikes as long as you have the details of torque seeing, old capacities, etc. which you should now have in the manual. So I'd just ask locally - putting a topic on here saying something like "Help me please, newbie stumped in Staffordshire!" - or wherever you are - should pull in the 'boys'! (thumbs)

I actually quite surprised no-one else has picked up on this topic as the Derbi's attract an strong, even fanatical following ...

Good luck

That was surprisingly accurate wild guess on your part. In-between of Shropshire and Staffordshire

Ha ha! Well I lived in Shropshire when I was a lad so maybe there's some sort of ectoplasm going on ... and you're in a great part of the world for bike riding, and mechanics! (thumbs)

There are a few mates around that way here on ABR. I guess what you need is to have the bike completely serviced by a competent mechanic, not a Derbi specialist, anyone would do, and the take it from there. I'll PM a few of them and alert them to your plight.

Cheers

He may be able to point you to someone in the area for service work/parts?
