Broken Lugs

Post by zimtim »

Well just bought meself a new well new to me yamaha XTZ 750, and although it it is on the old side it is in really quiet good nick the only problem is that is does need a bit of tarting up for the summer. so most of the jobs now done the only real problem is that on the two side panels one of the locating lugs has broken off and been lost whilst the other lugs do a good job in holding the panels firm. I am worried that if any of the other lugs break I will be left panel less. So my question is is there any where I can buy replacement lugs and if so how are they attached to the plastic panels. would rather do this than drill and bolt panels on or buy new panels.

Could you make a tab out of a small strip of metal rounded off with a hole in, then use epoxy resin to fix it to the inside of the panel?

Is it the front side panel or the rear?
Yamaha still sell those panels but I think the fronts are about £90 or I would look for one on ebay.
