Hi guys,
Wonder if you can help.
I’ve a friends 1200 GS in my garage, rendered immobile.
He was riding along and it just died. Lost gear indicator / neutral light etc too.
Traced a number of breaks in wiring, all repaired. And diagnosed a dead ECU.
Fitted a known good ECU and the neutral light is back, gear indicator etc. however the brake failure light remains constant which was there before too - however this shouldn’t stop it starting?
Bike won’t turn over on the button and dash is as the below pic! Any ideas?
Cheers!!
Edit: also tried a new ring antenna.

My first port of call would be UKGSer forum and use the search facility.

It might be a long shot but it might be worth checking the earth from the battery to wherever it’s fixed on the frame? My old KTM 400exc died one day due to the earth coming loose on the frame. I also had a Speed Triple 1050 that would start and run like a dog with various things not working which turned out to be just a duff battery.

Re: R1200GS EWS! Issue - Help! 😫
maybe a help you could possibly jump the starter solenoid direct to see if it will run once spun up not a fix I know, just run a live down to the spade connector on the solenoid. both my GS's have a wire going down there so I know I can at least spin it over without talking to the ignition /canbus etc in the event of an issue. Would be interested in any conclusions ta.

I had this on my 2006 1200GS too occasionally (EWS Error). Often putting the key in the other way around helped. But in my case it was the antenna around the key. Good info here:
