USB handlebar charging

Post by daveuprite »

I want to fit some kind of handlebar mounted charger, connected to the battery, which I can charge my phone from via USB.

Looking at this thing:

Any advice / ideas / preferences?

We've got these fitted to all our KTM's and BMW's as well the works vans. Never had any trouble with them even after having to dig mud out of one.

Make sure you wire it via relay or the transformer will flatten the battery on your bike.

Yes I'm interested in NOT doing exactly that, Chipy. Wouldn't the on/off switch sort that out?

On our KTM's I've taken a feed from the lighting circuit, this circuit turns on and off with the engine.
The BMW's I use the accessories feed which comes on with the key.

It might, until you forget to turn it off.

I fitted one of these

Dual USB Socket Charger,...

There's a switch on the outlet box but it doesn't isolate the kit from the battery supply so +1 for the commemts on switched supply
Cheers

Dave what ever you do put an inline fuse in, and waterproof switch so it won't overload, and you can isolate it ;)

If it’s for his Beta there’s waterproof and waterproof. It might be safer buying something through a yacht chandler.
