Good

Can’t wait for it to happen

Should have been done years ago. I reckon it's the future.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Totally agree. Electric everything will be frustrating and a tad dull!:))
Re: joint kawasaki and yamaha hydrogen engine
I reckon hydrogen could be a better alternative but having test road a Zero, I would not describe electric bikes as dull. The acceleration up to 80 seemed as fast as any sports bike I have ridden and the handling was good, certainly a big grin factor. Round town or for short day trips, 100 miles os some (depending on spec) they are great. I would quite like another test in the summer so I could bring it up to the Peaks and have some fun with the plastic rocket brigade.

Just back from JCB Powertrain...they have converted their diesel engine to spark ignition and hydrogen. Some impressive engineering, and also some interesting statements about the limitations of BEV and fuel cells.

Hydrogen in an adventure bike setting may have unforseen advantages for us Adv riders and lovers of large fuel tanks, would they just float over the bumps with the added lift? perhaps the big stake and length of rope weight penalty would offset that advantage. Those using multi fuel stoves could have interesting evenings too. I am not very scientific but like watching vids of old aircraft.

Re: joint kawasaki and yamaha hydrogen engine
I Agree with JCB's progress and technical path---the basic engine is unchanged (relatively--and still low tech)--I agree that storage and handling of hydrogen needs good safety engineering--but both battery and fuel cell technologies require some new and precious metals, not to mention the lithium mines--and fuel cells still require hydrogen storage and batteries. It has to be the answer for the transport of goods and also for marine use.Richard Simpson Mark II wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 12:13 pm Just back from JCB Powertrain...they have converted their diesel engine to spark ignition and hydrogen.
