Re: high mileage bikes
That is seriously impressive. I wonder what he had to repair/replace most in those years? Or is it a Trigger's Broom bike?
I read some time ago about one of the record holding cars (for mileage), which was I think an old Merc W124 saloon. The owner was meticulous and replaced anything that showed wear before it broke, with original Merc parts. The car was ultra-reliable and ran up over a million miles, but the owner said the thing he got through most was driver's seat pads and arm-rests!

I met a guy last weekend out on my travels on a relatively cool looking GS 1250. Knobbly tyres and scratches.
He was on his way home after having the bike serviced at 50.000km. He had taken it to Oslo to do the service
as well (about 400km away from where we were). Thing is the bike was only 2 years old

Re: high mileage bikes
My xt660z is coming up to 115 000 now. Engine has not been apart other than to tighten up the crank end nut. Had to fix exhaust and just last week I had to fix radiator. Oh headlight rattled apart.

Re: high mileage bikes
I believe Ian Coates racked up around 400,000km (250,000miles) on his RD04 Africa Twin doing his 12 yr RTW travels. Makes the 110,000km my AT's covered look rather paltry, but then I have other bikes in use.... well, that's my excuse!
