Help needed - bearing numbers

Post by daveuprite »

Really sorry to post on such an insanely boring subject, but I have two little packets hanging around with nice brand new wheel bearings sitting inside them.

Code number: 6204-2RS

I don't know what they fit !

I must have bought them for some bike years ago, but don't know what. I'm guessing DR350, DRZ400 - but could easily be a GSXR, ZX6R, R6, Fireblade, ZX10R, CBR600RR, Ducati 749/999, Triumph 675, R1, RSVR Mille, TL1000S/R - because all of those have passed through the workshop at some point in the last 13 years.

I'm quietly hoping they'll fit my Beta 450RR.

But despite some internet searches I just can't work out what they fit. Can any one help?

OK, just found out that they fit the rear wheel of an RD350LC - which makes sense - I had a Yamagamma for a while. But they also fit FZR600R, and several other Yams.

Does anyone have some kind of incredibly useful table that shows all the bearing code numbers and what bikes they will fit?

Matching up bearing dimensions with ebay listings point to Beta 450RR rear wheel bearings 2005-2014.
I seem to recall that my 2005 Beta450RR had a 3rd bearing that was thinner than the other 2. (Edit-it might have been my Husqvarna te450.)

Simply bearings will give you the bearing size from the number but I've not come across a site that shows all bikes for a particular bearing.

And 6204 is a very common wheel bearing size, the 2RS is 2 rubber seals.

Hi Toni - thanks for finding that. I really don't want to doubt you for a moment, but do you have a link that shows that they fit the Beta 450RR? Just before I hammer them into my rear wheel, that is...

6204 SKF Open Deep Groove Ball Bearing 20x47x14mm

Dimensions - d (inside diameter)20mmDimensions - D (outside diameter)47mmDimensions - B (width)14mm

Still sizes for 6204 so measure hub for OD and depth and spindle for ID
As previous post 2rs is two rubber seal one each side, easily removed wit small screwdriver if you spec requires open rather than sealed.
If you go on a parts finder site for your bike they often quote the bearing number as well as the part number.

I just typed Beta 450 rear wheel bearings into Ebay, there is a listing that has the sizes in the photos.
I do remember the bearing number and have only replaced wheel bearings on enduro/trials bikes never on a road bike.
Try your spindle in the bearing 1st then compare the outside diameter to your existing bearing.

Thanks chaps - really helpful. Next time I do rear tyre change I'll see if they fit. Nothing a big mallet can't sort out...

Top advice. I think I'm going to order some new ones anyway and when I do the change over I'll carry out your comparison Toni. Then one set can be spares for future use.
