At least the tide of jokes is letting us have a whale of a time laughing amongst the current wave of planning over seas trips.

Kipper them coming.

At least a decent set of GPX files will stop you lobstering it at the scenery. I always used to get crabby when that happened, or when I had to winkle a friend out of a pothole.
Thank cod for decent GPS.

I’ll get me coat........

Meanwhile, back on subject......

I just don’t understand why it’s so bloody complicated, to me anyway!

Apple products.....I get it, they are a law unto themselves and don’t want to talk to other types of gizmo.

So, we dig out a small notebook type thing that was giggled around for 40,000 pannier miles on our Aus/NZ/North America trip.
Not expecting much but it works.

The TET App could be the saviour.....but oh no, you need an android phone for that....dig out the £50 Nokia and put it on charge.....fingers crossed that it decides to wake up.

In my head surely it’s as simple as:-
Download file onto computer type thing.
Transfer file to SD card.
Put SD card in satnav device.
Attach said device to motorbike.
Ride motorbike
Enjoy yourself.
Tell ABR crowd about journey.
Have piss taken.
Get thumb (singular) up from some kind person.
Return home.
Plan next adventure.

That’s it.

But oh no, full tantrum meltdown and talk of spending hundreds of potential petrol £‘s on more shit electronic “make your life easier” gadgets.

The next so is here.....So, who can download the TET GPX files for Germany, Denmark, Sweden , Norway and Finland on to an SD Card(s) compatible with a Garmin Montana?
And how much do you want to carry out said service?
‘Cause I’m broken.

Sorry I cant help with Montanna or Ipad but if everything is on an SD card it's a good idea to make a duplicate. You might even want to split the journey up with several SD cards.

Duplicate??? Are you taking the piss, one copy is proving hard enough....

Once we get it sorted I was thinking of a separate SD card for each country.....but that’s a way off yet.

Duplicate??? Oh the humour!!

Hmm, a couple of thoughts.

The TET routes are updated fairly regularly so anything you download now may not be current by the time you go ( next June ? )

if you can get the nokia smatphone to work and it has a microsd card you can download the files onto the card ( don't forget to create garmin folder as said earlier ) then put the card into montana et voila ! Forget about the TET app, just use browser ( chrome) to find TET site and download gpx file from there.

what was the problem with the old netbook ?

If you could elaborate on the issues I may be able to help

I don't have any spare micro SD cards knocking about otherwise I'd load one with the files and post it to you.

Just get a cheap android tablet with a micro sd card slot and WiFi.. Download the maps and routes as you want...

Thanks for your patience here.

The old notebook has a detachable key board which doesn’t connect anymore due to vibration in the top box I think.

Key board on screen as a tablet is OK but the machine is very slow, not as slow as me but slow, but mainly we are the problem. Lack of interest/knowledge/patience with this kind of thing.

We’ve given up on using the Apple stuff as you said. It just doesn’t work.

Thanks for the pointer re not bothering with the app. Time and ag saved me thinks.

We will have another look tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted.
