That is okay for a dirt bike with 300mm plus of suspension travel... Dosent apply to most adventure bikes with 200mm travel...

Aim for 40mm static sag and 55mm rider sag.. If you need lots of preload to get rider sag number your spring is too soft..... Go on a diet lol..

My rear shock is currently, and unexpectedly, being rebuilt, under warranty, after blowing the oil seal. Still, two years and over 50,000 miles, I'm not complaining.

Plenty of the cheaper oe shocks aren't very serviceable. I think the fact that most shops will have to send it off to a specialist means that most owners dont bother until it leaks oil or begins to bounce too much - although I suspect a huge amount of riders probably wouldn't notice lol.
John ..have you ever had your rear xt660z shock serviced? as its well over 100k now...or just replace with a aftermarket one?....

cheers
I bought a used hagon shock with remote preload adjustment from this forum. Very nice to have the adjustment but I've never been happy with spring weight and damping. I took it off last year to get serviced/looked at but not got round to dropping it off. Back with oe atm.
