GPX files

Not having a GPS, I was wondering if anyone else just uses a smartphone for navigating via GPX files.
I use a navigation app on my phone, but it is really only for roads.
I had a quick google, but came away not much wiser, anyone else doing similar?
Or any other apps that show 'offroad' tracks routes as well as just tarmac?

Routebuddy Atlas runs on iOS and uses os maps. You have to buy maps.

ViewRanger which I just can’t get away with.

If you are using gpx files which have been created by somebody else you just need a gpx reader app, we use one on an android phone when walking and it works well.

There are help videos on line.

You can upload routes, however, you do have to convert GPX files to KML files, which is easily done via a free file conversion website.

I have tried View Ranger and others and just couldn't get them to work.

Maps.me, maps are free and you just download the ones you want, so when you are out and about, you don't need web access to have the maps.

It's so much better than the others, for me. Like I said, it's so easy I can use it.

You can also use OsmAnd, costs around £2.50 for a version capable of adding more detail and you can download country maps to use offline...also supports .gpx tracks.

That is what I have on my phone and use it as a GPS. Brilliant tip thanks will look into it.
Will be gatting a Quadlock case for my phone, so then that will be all I need, instead of
multiple displays and a powerstation worth of USB sockets
The 690 already has 1 USB socket as standard, so no extra wiring needed.
