If you're running tubeless a good liquid sealer can work well.
I like the mushroom plugs, more professional, but a bit of a fiddle to use correctly.
The sticky string is easier to install even if the tyres a bit muddy.
Practice in the shed is the best idea.
I carry the sticky string in my van for off road vehicles, mowers and buggies etc. works well.

Re: tubless tyre repair which kit string or mushroom
I have used the sticky strings to very good effect 3 or 4 times on conventional road tyres and attempted to use a tiptop kit once and failed but it was very old so the rubbers were difficult to work. Not tried the mushrooms but can highly recommend the strings.

the strings are much more versatile and you can use more than one if necessary. You will need to carry a reamer, dont make the mistake of not doing.
Re: tubless tyre repair which kit string or mushroom
Cheers guys for confidence inspiring replys.. So stringy bits it is, ive a tube still for front and a compressor so yes im sure the remer is important too.... Watched some vids on best use was just unsure which type was better cor the trails application...
Re: tubless tyre repair which kit string or mushroom
I did my first mushroom last weekend (viewtopic.php?f=22&t=47951) and it was bloody hard work to wind the mushroom in, not least of all because (unbeknown to me, because I stupidly didn't check the gear when I bought it 5 years ago) the threads were buggered on the insertion tool (which is also hard work to try to hold firmly enough when winding it in). There was a sliver of flint in the tyre, so I reamed it out a little, then plugged it. 40PSI Sunday, 10PSI by Friday (unused in the interim). Don't know if that was because my technique was poor, the hole was too big, or just mushrooms don't work very well. Since the tyre (Anakee 3) was squared off I replaced it on Friday anyway.

Damn
Got a puncture this afternoon on my way home after my morning fix.
Alerted by the on board tyre pressure sensors about 1 mile from home
I have the mushroom type repair kit, but couldn't find the actual puncture
Off to the tyre shop in the morning

Ive used these with great success in my van, the wife car and my daughters car.
I don't see it wouldn't work in a bike tyre.
Its the mushroom type rubber so expands inside the tyre and makes it impossible to push out.
