Bridgestone T31 tyre advice

Post by macvisual » Wed Jun 27, 2018 5:50 pm

For years I've been using/enjoying Metzeler Tourance Next tyres on my Suzuki V-Strom DL1000. My rear is needing replaced in a few months time, was wondering if anyone has any experience of the Bridgestone T31 tyres at all?

Would the T31 suit the V-Strom I wonder?

Any advice/experience appreciated.

Peter

Hi Mac

I was recently away and suffered a slow puncture, so went to the local tyre place and the best tyre he could fit was the Bridgestone Battlax (T31) - his reasoning was that it was the closest he had to the Michelin Pilot Road/Trail. My bike is a [Triumph] Explorer, so not the lightest of bikes! Over recent years I usually run (and am very happy with and been a vocal supporter of) Michelin Trail 4's (road going tyre).

My impressions would be that the Bridgestone is a very good tyre, nice grip and predictability (all riding has been in the dry). However, I will be (at the end of its life) replacing with another Michelin if the Trail 5 is anything to go by. I felt that the Michelin had slightly better corner grip and slightly more feel.

But happy with the Bridgestone.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Moorso;

"The Pilot Road 4 tires will be available in three versions, the standard PR4, PR4 Trail for enduro and ADV bikes that are primarily ridden on-road and the PR4 GT for heavier, touring bikes. The Pilot Road 4 GT tires are already the OEM choice for the new BMW R1200RT".

So which one of the three above would suit my Suzuki V-Strom 1000cc might you suggest please?

Thanks;
Peter

I've always ridden the PR4 Trail - the reason being they are supposed to have dual compounds, so a harder wearing central compound (for motorway work) and softer edges. The PR4 Trail is, genuinely, one of the best tyres I've ever ridden on. And its grip in the wet is superior to anything I've ever had.
