Tiger 900 exhaust
Re: Tiger 900 exhaust
Didn't the 900's and the 885's suffer with that starter sparag clutch issue which meant an engine strip to fix but on the 955 it was a lot easier to repair if it failed?
Re: Tiger 900 exhaust
The early engines had an access plate above the sprag ,and it was a relatively easy fix it failed? But Triumph in their wisdom did away with it on later engines, hence the need for a partial strip down.

The 1050 also has easier sprag access. On the 1050 they are now pretty cheap (came out in 2007),and I think a significant improvement over the previous model in lots of areas--so worth a look IMHO.
Re: Tiger 900 exhaust
It's relatively easy job to do on the 955i as i think it's just a case of removing the engine casing (clutch side) to gain access.I've got an 2002 955i Tiger and the engine has to be one of the best bike engines i have ever ridden, really smooth and it will pull from under 2k rpm in 6 th gear with no issues. One thing to mention though is that some or even the majority seem to suffer from blisters in the paintwork on the plastic tanks, mainly under the Tiger stripes for some bizzare reason,it's been said it's the excess ethanol in our modern petrol that causes it,not a real issue but unsightly.

Re: Tiger 900 exhaust
I went from an 885 Sprint ST to a 955 and the handling difference was huge. Engine was lovely and sounded great with the totally illegal Triumph can. Quite a step up IMHO.
The downside for me was lower bars which killed my back but that wouldn't apply to the Tiger.
