XT1200 S10 Engine Failure

UPDATE Anyone heard of XT1200 engines failing (Holed Crank Case) ?
Assumed these were Bullet Proof !

Yeh that happened on the MCN adventure bike test. The xt1200 went out really early on with a holed sump

Sounds like the con rod must have broken, maybe they over reved it, but must admit assumed that there was a rev limiter.
We need to find out more info.

Indeed I Suspect It may have thrown a Rod, but I don't know why. Definitely not been over revved, had plenty of oil in it and its only done 2,000miles.

Can be all kinds of failure.
Loosening main bolts. Some other brands & models have this reputation.
Jamming main rod.
Will all buckle the rod and break it in a blink giving you the hole.

How old is the bike? Warranty claim perhaps?
