R1150RT ticking

Post by Mike101 »

I've got a small issue with my 1150RT.

When starting form cold all is well but about 30 seconds later there is a loud ish ticking from the right hand pot. It goes when the engine is hot.

Do we think a tappet adjustment is in order or could it be anything else?

Could it be the throttle body? If it is the same set up as the 11gs put your finger on the spool that controls the throttle cable beside the throttle body and put a wee bit of pressure on it. If the ticking stops, then it is the throttle body.

Cut the red wire
Followed by blue then green. Remove to safe distance. And dispose of in responsible manner. (thumbs)

I'd check the exhaust manifold for leaks/cracks. They can tick on start up and close once they expand with heat. (thumbs)
