Lowering Suspension - Rear Shock

Hi

I'm looking to lower my KTM 690 by an inch by lowering the rear shock.

Can anyone recommend a suspension specialist within say 50 miles of Southampton?

Is there a specific reason for lowering the shock as opposed to fitting a new link?

Lowering the bike by fitting a link is a fudge and possibly dangerous as it does not
reduce the suspension travel and that could result in contact with the mudguard. The
correct way is to dismantle the shock and place spacers in to reduce the travel. The same should also be carried out at the front end to retain overall balance and not
simply slide the forks up through the headstock for the same reason. The alternative
is to fit a lower seat if available.

Why only a inch on rear...this woule make front high...cant you drop front forks and reduce the preload ...

But id rather have a proper settup and have high bike and drop a cheek lol...

I've had Rev's Racing do some work like this in the past.

They fail the 'within 50 miles of Southampton' test being in Halesowen.

Cocker......Reactive Suspension just North of York. Nowhere better.

Cut the seat down. None of these bikes are meant to be lowered in terms of their geometry

lowering the back by 1 inch will only lower the seat by "about" 1/2 inch at the front
you need to lower the front end too to get the desired change in seat height (thumbs)

I was under the (possibly mistaken impression)that fitting a link altered both the suspension rate and travel?? (As the length/geometry of the link arm governs both of these.)

(Clearly it doesn't alter the shock absorber/damper characteristics)
