Firstly merry christmas everyone!
Secondly, I had to use my stop'n'go tyre plugger kit (rubber mushroom type) for the first time tonight, worked well and got home fine.
What's the consensus of opinion, is it happy days permenently or a new tyre quick? @

I haven't used the mushroom type but have the sticky thread ones.I just kept my eye on the tyre pressure for a few days.If it's not going down, why change it?
Re: Stop'n'go tyre plugger

Re: Stop'n'go tyre plugger
Have used it on my bike and car previously and currently have it again on the car and have always used the tyre until it was worn, never had a problem. Last time I looked when I took the tyre off the plug looked like it had melted to tyre wall making a great seal.

The mushroom plugs are to all intents & purposes 'Plugged from the Inside' by virtue of their massive flange on the inside.
Like sprinster says check pressure for a while & use it!
But ..............if you want absolute peace of mind with consideration to the fact that you've only got one wheel @ each end then scrap it & put a new tyre on (thumbs)
Happy Christmas & hope to see you on here a bit more often in the new year

As good as the plug is it isn't a permanent repair.
Take it to a trusted specialist for a proper repair.

That's the hard bit, finding a 'trusted specialist'.Treadtrader wrote:As good as the plug is it isn't a permanent repair.

Most of the big boys dont want to know & especially when it's a motorbike tyre :woohoo:
Sometimes better to spend the repair money on a new boot

I used one in France last year first time worked well on my GSA, drove the remaining 500 miles home over a day and half and was good but once home i got the tyre off and had a proper repair done.davsato wrote:Firstly merry christmas everyone!

Re: Stop'n'go tyre plugger
If there,s no air coming out why change it. You can fit new tires and get a puncture with in a hundred miles. I ran over a broken bottle on the road on new tires , stopped and dug out all the glass as I thought but still had a flat rear tire in the morning . now I take the attitude Tires are for keeping the rims off the ground. Ran the GSXR 1100 up the drag strip umpteen times on the plugged rear tire. :woohoo:
