DRZ400S - highest bars without having to change cables etc?
After some Renthals / similar for the Dizzer, but don't want the faff of having to change cables. Anyone have experience of which alternative bars fit without changes? Renthal Dakar for example? Oh, and do you have to change the clamps? to what size?
Anyone got anything suitable lying around that they'll donate or sell? Ta.

Re: DRZ400S - highest bars without having to change cables etc?
I got adjustable bar risers as I did not know how much play was in all the cables. My DRZ had Renthal standard rise bars when I got it
25mm is the total of all 3 segments and on feeling the cables this is about the maximum I feel on my bike without pulling on connections and throttle or clutch
Hope this helps
After riding this off road I feel that I would like another 10-15mm or so higher so that I am not bending over so much but I am prepared to live with what I have for another year to give it time
I have seen some pictures of higher bars but I think from memory adjustments were needed. I saw one that had bars fitted off an ATV Quadbike (higher rise)

Re: DRZ400S - highest bars without having to change cables etc?
Thanks Paul. I have a set of 25mm riser clamps and it looked to me like they would be about the maximum I could go to without needing to make cable changes. Just need to get some longer allen bolts then I'll try them. That would keep the original bars, which are perfectly functional, I just prefer the chunkier look and feel of Renthals etc, so will likely change the bars at some point.
If anyone else has tried anything else, please continue to post, thanks.

I'll have a look at mine. I'm pretty sure I've 30mm rox risers and a higher renthal handlebar. I did have to re route the cables though.

I had renthal Dakar high bars on mine and 30mm risers, I just re routed some of the cables a bit at the yoke end, dead easy.
People say it changes the goemetry too much, well I couldn't give a rats ass, mine rode absolutely fine and it made it much more comfortable standing up.
I've got 35mm risers on my ktm now and that's super comfortable standing too.

So, I think the rox risers are actually 2 inch (50mm. I'm not sure of the bend on the Renthals, but they're marked H971. Hope that helps.

I've got high Renthalls and 50mm Rox Risers set up to bring the bars forward and up; no problems with cables. Don't even remember having to re-route them but may have loosened their ties and wiggled things about a bit.

Thanks peeps, that's all great news. I may get a set of Renthal high bars

flip the throttle assembly over so the cables exit on the underside should give a little more slack as well.
