Rattle from engine at about 4000 rpm, 2002 Honda XRV 750 Africa Twin

I noticed this rattle today in the AT at about 4,000 rpm. Could anyone shed a little light for me please?

Sounds like it could be a vibration from something external rather than an engine noise (difficult to tell without hearing it in the flesh). It's almost a resonance of some kind...

Have you had it apart at all?

Is there anything loose and rattling round in the bash guard?

First check would be that the bash plate is not touching somewhere.
It makes a weird vibey noise at certain revs if it is

Sounds to me like it's coming from the clutch. Get a long screwdriver or bar, put it up against the clutch housing and put your ear on the handle. You will then hear clearly if it's coming from that.
