top thanks for that, went for the 600s so hopefully my experiences will tally with yours and the others... i thought long and hard about the 1500 but figured i'll probably have them wired into the dip beam and keep them one constantly fired down at the verge etc. i thought the 1500 might attract to much unwelcome attention. Will post again on my experiences with them
cheers

Jon you mentioned you could scan what you did here
One other tip is to wire the relay for the driving lights into the cut-out relay to the headlights (I don't have the diagram to hand but I can scan what I did). This will reduce the electrical load when trying to start the bike, as happens now with your headlights.
would you be able to do that - it'd be much appreciated

cheers

Lights arrived earlier this week, will have a stab at it this weekend

Can anyone provide a very basic idiots guide to wiring in, step by step.

i have a relay and understand how it works, i intend to take a switched live off the redundant accessories socket i have on the tiger, and reuse the heated grips switch [also redundant] on the dash.

How do i wire in the lights through the switch via the relay?

an idiots guide would be much appricated...

Cheers

Hi there Matt

Have to admit I didnt bother with a relay as the LEDs take minimal current and they are running off a switched supply (ignition) and with another switch in-line. Lazy I know as I should have linked them into the dip beam cct.

Below are a couple of basic relay based setups

Right got them fitted to the tiger at last, took me about 4-hours in total,

Used the second wiring diagram on Mawses post.

Then using a relay located next to the battery, i ran the wires to the old heated grip switch .

I ran the wires inside a piece of rubber car fuel line [split along the length] from the battery to the headstock, this allowed me to simply push the wires along the frame easily and protects them from wear and heat.

The tube houses, the earth, positive & ignition positive to the switch and lights.

I wired the lights together using chock blocks, greased and wrapped in insulation tape to facilitate removal should it be required. These are tucked up on top of the tigers lighting relays under the front cowl.

All other joins soldered and heat shrunk tube to cover terminals.

Primary issue was where to access a ignition live without taking the bike apart - eventually opened up the rear light and clicked one into place from the bulb wires, drilled a small hole to the rear of the lamp housing and ran the wire back to the battery relay. I siliconed the wire in place through the lamp housing to keep out any moisture.

Pleased with results and it was my first real wiring job so was a little concerned about some elements, but if you are in the same boat - try it you'll be pleasantly surprised

Well done mate, they look just the job.
Plus the satisfaction of doing it yourself. :cheer:

That's worthy of a Karma.
