Thought I would break up the toil of sunbathing and bar hopping, so I hired a CB500X from http://www.motoandbike.com
Took a ride up into the mountains to the highest point on the island and down to the west coast ..Roads were amazing..great condition, good visibility and virtually traffic free..wished that I had longer..anyway a few photos ( if they work) to give you an idea of whats there...( off road was forbidden in the hire).

Re: A day out around Gran Canaria
Amazing place. Was across there last month and went cycling, am booked again in Dec and am takig my own bike.
Brilliant climbs and super fast downhills. Very courteous drivers as well, very unlike the UK.

Much less traffic and much less rush...definitely a calmer place to ride or drive ...virtually traffic free in the mountains ..would be great on my own bike as im always wary on a hire bike or borrowed bike ....

Looks great, a shame that you couldn't ride the trails.

Not long back from 3 weeks there. Maybe went to the wrong place at it seemed to be full of men wearing gold hot pants and the like!

Most 'bikers' would think that was the perfect place to be..Bobman wrote:Not long back from 3 weeks there. Maybe went to the wrong place at it seemed to be full of men wearing gold hot pants and the like!
Yumbo centre was only a few hundred metres from the bike hire centre..the fact that you found the Gold Hot Pants but not the Motorbikes may be a subliminal message
