Lakes Trails

Post by beddowsm »

Back from a fantastic weekend trail riding in the Lakes with a few other ABR's.

Riders weres

Me, 950 ADV
Blag, 990 ADV
Sparkton, 950 ADV
Felco, 660 Tenere
Yamart, 660 Tenere
Barnman, F650 Dakar
XR400Stu, XR400 (cough cough...time to get a mans bike Stu  )

Left work in Blackpool at 16:00 on Friday and was riding over the Kirkstone pass between Windermere and Ullswater just over an hour later. I decided on a Northerly detour to take in the Old Coach Road Trail. Fantastic trail and then a blast South to Great Langdale where I met the others for the night. When I arrived they were all sat around with a mountain of empty cans. The product of arriving early :) Then I hit the beers that turned out to be a mistake.

Next morning woke early with a banging headache. Set off regardless and did some fantastic trails.

Sparkton seemed to make a habit of blocking the trail.

The trails were really good. A mixed bag but lots of rocky technical bits that didnt help my hangover.

And then onto an old mine. My bike in a mine! Not sure of the legality of riding into a mine....but there were no signs saying dont do it!

Barnman was up until the early hours the night before and was a bit worse for wear also. He came off lots! Im surprised the Dakar is still road worthy after several heavy falls!

Loads more fantastic trails. And ended the day heading up a trail only to find Sparkton having a rest.

That night we hit the pub (again) and Felco had his pulling face ready.

Did you do the UCR at the back of Tarn Howes?

Sunday saw a few people wimp out for 1 reason or another. Me, Felco, Stu and Mart headed out (eventually after dragging Mart out of his pit and making him get ready). We decided to do the best of the previous day. Great trails. And I felt a lot better doing them without a hangover. Bikes were loaded with gear.

And then onto a ford that we missed the preiovus day. We all made it across OK. But Felco cocked up his return journey.

And so did Stu....

It took a bit of mechanically wizardry from Stu to get it going again. I would have just called the AA!

Yep, cracking trail. Very fast with loads of opportunity to get the bikes airborn. The trails to the NW of this were pretty hard. Technical rocky climbs.

Does seem a bit onesided mr Beddowsm.

We are used to the hardcore beddows runs and he takes the P for coffee stops but I understand from a mole in the camp that Beddowsm was too tired to do one of the hard trails and here is the proof
