Spain

Post by clutchspring »

Hi everyone, just looking for ideas as to good place's to base my self for a few days in & around northern Spain.
I'm stopping near potes for a few days first but need ideas for my second week.
I've looked at that many ride report's that I'm now confused as to which area to move on to.
Thanks,
Ian.

if you have not ridden so much in the Pyrenees I would suggest somewhere in striking distance of but not necessarily within the range, leaning a little East of the centre. France, Andorra, Med could all be possibilities then. I am not the one for suggesting a town normally I have only trees for company. Spain is pretty good for hitting quicker roads and enjoying shunting from one area to another too. Alternatively somewhere near the the Portuguese border, I may be hinting here at my enjoyment of variety within a trip. Are you on road or trail?

I'd recommend maybe heading south east from Potes towards the Aragon area, in roughly this direction....Potes, Burgos, Tudela (the Bardenas desert), Teruel (very nice City).

Awesome riding in this bit of North/North eastern Spain... 8-) . We're riding the area again in June 8-) .

You really cant go wrong, whatever you decide.

All the roads are awesome especially in the mountain areas of the Picos or Pyrenees or anywhere in between.

Heading back to Spain myself in a few months, and it cant come soon enough :D :D :D

My avatar is a photo taken on the Smugglers Trail into Andora from Spain. Well worth a look ;)
If I'm not online.............

I'm probably out on the Bat Bike

I agree with the above. Consider the Sierra de la Demanda area. Quiet, a good variety of roads, plenty of places to stay. Good for 2 to 3 days.

A timely topic having just last night booked my ferry tickets for a 2 week run to Spain in May. Having ridden to all the usual honey potes (see what I did there) and lesser visited areas, currently looking at new regions, away from the madding crowds. Will be getting the maps out this evening.

I’ve not been for a while but Cal Petit in Oliana was always excellent.
Proper motorcycling family too.
