Holiday Insurance recommendation

Post by Schoe000 »

Ever the optimist :D :D , I am looking for an annual, world wide (not including USA/Mexico) holiday insurance that covers me to ride my own motorcycle (unlimited cc) and/or ride a rented motorcycle up to 125 cc. Once I started reading the small print in several policies there were restrictions on riding motorcycles.

Anybody got a recommendation?

Thanks

Back when we took our bikes abroad our Directline plus Home insurance policy covered us on our own motorcycles (aslong as it was our primary mode of transport).
Not used them for a couple of years so don't know if it's still the same or if Covid is covered.
Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

IIRC covid can be covered as a 'health' thing, but you can't get covid cover for disruption...ie having to cancel a trip because of a national covid lockdown.

I haven’t been and searched through my old documents but I think that for my last big trip I bought a 24 month worldwide including USA etc from Holiday Safe.
Cover for riding our own bikes, over 125cc, as king as we wore a helmet whatever local laws stated.

Again from memory. £800 each was about the price. That was back in 2018.

Be aware that some travel insurance policies require you to have a return journey to the UK in place.
We booked a flight from Spain for about £25 each.
Luckily there was no need to claim on that trip but I’ve been down the claim route before and nearly fell foul of that clause.

Hi Nick
We have had a holiday safe policy for several years, never claimed but does cover riding motorcycles. There are add ons for winter sports etc

Use Holiday Safe too, they include as standard off road riding too. Plus you get GP assist, an app that's gives you direct contact with a British GP.
Got it when I did the KTM Rally in 2018, for that reason alone. Didn't need it as I'm a riding god

M&S, £200 for two including USA for annual cover, very good health and repatriation which is what really matters, covers our own bikes and hire bikes. Includes Covid restriction stuff as long as it wasn’t announced before your trip.

May now be closed to new entrants, but worth checking.
