We've already had the email, to be honest I'll be surprised if our holiday goes ahead as as everything was booked through them as a package.
I'm self employed and mainly work from home so I'll be able to get some work done when we come back, I'm more concerned about travel insurance and potential injuries while riding a bike, we'll have our ehic but that doesn't cover everything.

Talk about "not knowing what you've got until it's gone" :( .
Let's hope the situation changes for the better in the near future, for all concerned.
Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

It will be a blow for BF, which is a shame as I have always found them one of the nicer ferry companies. The trouble is whilst Boris says it is okay for Dom to use his initiative, the restrictions he is putting on travel prevent many people from using theirs. I am glad I came over here when I did.

I suspect BF will pull its boats away from the UK altogether once the UK exits from the Single Market, and run ro-ro freight direct from Ireland to Western France and Spain. It will save a lot of hassle. There are two new Ireland - Europe mainland ferry routes already, apparently.

No chance of them doing that as the market is good too them they have too many unprofitable routes though, and no screaming school trips on boats have hit them very hard as has reduced passenger numbers on the boats....

The tunnel is making a killing though running at full capacity for a while now...

This news is bittersweet for me, the negative is that it reduces my route/crossing options based upon my collections/deliveries, but the positive is that the prices have plummetted for a van carrying commercial goods. I can now take the van from Caen to Portsmouth for less than a Calais-Dover crossing with P&O, which also saves me a lot of driving time and fuel. Personally I'd much prefer to have fewer ferries booked to capacity at a cheaper rate than more ferries half full and the prices going up to compensate for it.

3 years ago BF had one sailing every week from Cork to Roscoff.

Then last year it became 2 per week Cork to Roscoff plus 2 weekly from Cork to Santander.

This year it became one from Cork to Roscoff and also 2 from Rosslare to Bilbao and also one from Rosslare to Roscoff.

Next year we get 2 sailings per week from Cork to Roscoff [Wednesday and Saturdays, 4pm] plus another from Rosslare to Roscoff and 2 from Rosslare to Bilbao.
