Hello,
Would like to ask if anyone has ridden over to Morocco?
Been thinking about doing it but thought I would get some advice first
Thank you.

Re: Morocco
Might be easier to ask ' who hasn't been to Morocco?' on this forum !
Do you have any specific questions, John?

Re: Morocco
Yes, think most have been once or more. Great place for adventure motorcycles both on and off-road.
Have a look on Tim Cullis Websit, lots of good useful information.
www.morocco-knowledgebase.net
Then buy the latest copy of Chris Scotts book Morocco Overland Route Guide.
Also do a search for Morocco on the Forum, plenty of info on here.
Morocco is a motorcycle experience you will never forget.

Re: Morocco
Done it once on my bike and once on a fly/drive with her indoors ..... both were great trips for different reasons.
There are better trails and roads in The Alps and Pyrenees but the culture is something you need to experience which doesn't have to be on a bike.

Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.
Re: Morocco
Keith (Wibo) is in the second day of a trip to Morocco with a group of around sixteen forum members and is perhaps a good person to ask when he gets back in a few weeks time.
I think he leads a trip around this time of year to Morocco for anyone who is interested.

About 1700 miles from Liverpool if you ride through France or you could get ferry to Santander/ Bilbao. Algeciras near Gibraltar is where you get a ferry to either the Spanish enclave of Ceuta on northern tip of Morocco, or direct to new port of Tangier med - better option.John_mx wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2017 10:10 am Hello,

Another days ride to where the intersting stuff starts, i.e Atlas mountains, cities of Fez, Marrakesh etc.
You mention going in middle of year, it will be bloody hot in Morocco. Early or late is better , March/April or October/November, though Atlas mountains could still have snow early in year.

Re: Morocco
Nicos D is right!- early(March) or late(October) is best, as the heat can be quite oppressive/dangerous.
From York it took our group about 5 days- but we were stopping regularly, after catching the ferry to Santander.
There's an excellent tour guide called WIBO on this forum...a bit expensive, but he seems to know his stuff...
I would certainly have a read of his ride reports ...oh & he's going next year also!
Regarding prices/places/planning etc I went on a trip recently & filmed it.
It may provide a few ideas to whet your appetite

p.s You will see that bike choice & preparation are vitally important ...for some ...watch out for "Snipers" preparation!

Re: Morocco
I am guessing again that I am the odd one out here, I hated the place! Why? Mainly because I found the Moroccan's very intrusive. It mattered not where I rode, into the desert or up in the Atlas mountains they were there begging and generally getting on my tits. Even had to out run a gang of drug dealers in the north insisting I needed some gear. No, I shant be back. Ride the same distance and you can be in Bulgaria or any of the Balkan countries which are much better even Turkey is n't much farther.

Re: Morocco
I love the place, back again in April 2018!! Never had a problem with the Moroccans being intrusive, the only issue I've faced is taking a shite were there is nothing for 100 miles in either direction, and you're just snapping off the first length of cable when you hear a "hello mister ..." -
