Re: Catalunya, Spain, 1st October
Frightening scenes on Facebook from an acquaintance in Barcelona, even fire fighters linking arms to protect the people from the Police, jeez the World is going crazy.
Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

700 plus injured but only 3 arrests WTF is that about. You don't drag people about by their hair and kick people on the floor.

Well the Catalans have voted in favour of independence, and there is also a region-wide strike on Tuesday due to the police brutality. God knows what the future holds now, there was enough uncertainty thanks to brexit.

Re: Catalunya, Spain, 1st October
I just read there was 90 percent vote in favour with only a 42.3 percent turnout.
I would've thought that the way it was being constantly publicised on the run up that there would have been more of a turn out.?
I wouldn't know what one was to do with such a poor level of turn out when it comes to the EU to examine it, but I'd think the fact that it was, on paper, an illegal vote might not count for much?
90 percent of 42 percent.... that's 38 people out of every hundred......the 62 other people who didn't vote tells me that they think it's either OK to remain Spanish or just don't care either way?
The obvious volume of people choosing not to turn out, personally, tells me more than anything...........and perhaps the suits campaigning should examine that also?
Interesting to see what unfolds over the next few days indeed.

Will It Buff Out?

Spanish police/army were thuggish as ever, like Alan said, the government should just have allowed the vote and then ignored it as it was technically illegal, instead they echoed their fascist past....bunch of cnuts

The EU great bastion of citizen rights have kept there gobs shut because of course you can have your freedoms when it's suit the project, shouting their heads off about EU citizens rights with regards to Brexit, and pretty much all European Governments have done the same.
Over 800 injured and very few arrests, that's down to one thing brutality not an officer keeping the law of the law
pretty outrageous really in a so called free Europe

What a 24 hours -
Watching it all unfold in central Barcelona.
Played safe and mostly stopped in the pub in Placa Catalonia square !
Never experienced or seen anything like it.
And then wake up to find my airline has gone bust so not coming home today

On that basis, only the same percentage of Brit's voted for brexit.WIBO wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2017 5:34 am I just read there was 90 percent vote in favour with only a 42.3 percent turnout.
