The bar bag is just fine.... you can turn full lock without fuss. I need another one as the zip has zapped. :)

Handlebar bag is handy for storing such items as e.g. coins for toll booths, cloth and product for visor cleaning, head torch to hand, easy to stash passport temporarily when disembarking etc.

Autoglym 'Super Resin' polish is used as a visor cleaner..non abrasive.....water beads off same and is ideal to take insects off.

I'm on my fifth pair of Mitas E07's.
These tyres:
a; Work well for me on hard pack and stone
b; They don't get cut up as much as K60 scouts I've seen in under the same going.
c; They also give really good grip on wet tarmac and dry alike.
d; They're cheap.
c; I can get 12000kms plus out of them.

Radiator guard from Aliwakeskate on this forum. Excellent laser cut product.

I'm led to believe that the KTM 690 has the same radiator as the XT? If so it gives double the chance of finding one if it gets broken beyond all repair. Perhaps any KTM dudes can confirm/deny?

A second hand sump guard was purchased. It's OK but as you can see a better one would have more side protection.

A couple of pens stashed in the cross bar pad lets me write on my hand the amount of fuel I've just bought, when in a foreign country,to show to the cashier.

Old inner tubes cut make elastic bands for whatever....easy to access and they don't even blow off when riding. :)

I have back up water on my rear pannier....ideal also for a quick brew up of powdered coffee..I just heat the stainless cup directly on to camping cooker/

Here we can see the special £79.99 Touratwat alloy bottle.....erm...well..it was really €9 from Decathlon.

A tube of Loctite black instant gasket in an old sock is stashed under the seat.

Where the handbook lives a tobacco tin is placed with rubber solution and patches in case of punctures.

With the XT I had to make a guard to keep crud from getting splashed in under the seat after the goofy original exhaust was removed.

Paper filter replaced with a cleanable foam one after making the air lid bigger, courtesy of a Stanley knife.

Make sure any after market filter can be cleaned in petrol when in the field. Some environmentally friendly ones will have their glue disintegrate with petrol as they specify to only use their unique cleaning product. That product will take up extra space that could be used for something else.

Where the filter meets the lid seal with grease after oiling.

Good evening byway billy

I found them on ebay a few years ago...€17 They've taken a few hits to date and are OK.

You can find alloy pivot peg copies which by all accounts work just fine.

Certain YZ motocross pegs are supposed to fit also.

Do you have plans for the chain protector over the front sprocket?
If the chain breaks you have a potential to damage the gearbox.
I have an aftermarket SS sprocket cover so that I can see the sprocket itself to check wer but also it incorporates the standard chain guard that runs close to the chain over the front sprocket.
I also have an LED which monitors the voltage at the battery. It's just a quick guide to check that you are still charging....................and yes my Ten was the very first to have the reg/rectifier problem.
Not any more as I chopped off the original and hard soldered in another which has the loom potted into the body of the regulatore. This extra length allowed me to reposition the regulator underneath the headlight well out of harms way.

Hi Wibo, good thread (thumbs) .
I have wr 450 pegs on mine, had to grind them away a bit but fitted after a bit of work, I have the same sump gaurd as you, otr, bolted a bit of heavy duty plastic onto it to protect pump, I used an old grip to protect bottom hose,
kept bending rear brake leaver so welded a xr 400 sprung one on, small but works fine, running K&N air filter, like you say some foam filters fall apart, my piper cross did, what you using?
