And a small house in the woods. Where there were outlets.
So that I could charge my USB power bank

I go to the same place in France and am headed back again next month.

12 days on a large pitch to myself is working out at €14 a day, includes showers and electricty. Over a number of years from 2014 the adult cost including showers has gone from €4.50 to €6.00 in 2020 and it has not changed since.

I have been paying €15-24 here for same but without electricity.

There is a bit of a practice of chaging a rate for tent and 2 people but many of us dont share tents and get penalised by this.

Last year we stayed on a French farm camp site - well more of a fermette - and it was part of some kind of scheme where, if you were a member, you could camp for free if you didn’t use the facilities (loos/showers) and bought some products from the farm.
Sorry can’t remember the name of the scheme.
No good for us Moto campers and to be honest the camping was so cheap anyway but handy for camper vans or caravans.

So back again in Feb Olaf?--are you going again later in the year?--happy new year by the way!

Chris many happy returns. Great to see you.

I am planning the usual but I have held back for the minute because I am trying to keep a slot for my sons conferring which is in May. I suspect 3rd Wednesday in May which would be my ferry departure for France if I use the local BF service. However I had issues with Brittany Ferries this year that are unresolved at present and led me to having a very pleasant return from Cherbourg in September on Stenaline on a Sunday afternoon sailing. Stena have added another ship to the Cherbourg Rosslare route and they are very bike friendly. Two bouts of covid in 2022 have had an effect so I am no longer tying myself to an early arrival at Roscoff to do the run in the one day.

I will keep you updated.

Well, 2023 now.... Eurohike's Sendero 4 tent is being sold for £99 at Go Outdoors.... stock clearance I suspect as they were once quite a bit more, and there was a pile of around 50 at my local store! I reckon that's good value for a spacious tent (for two) with a front room one can comfortably stand up in, so much so I bought one on impulse. It's 9kg, which is good for its size, and packs up fairly small. I've had Eurohike tents in the past and they've always had a longevity that belies their economy price - ok, they probably wouldn't survive a hurricane atop a mountain, but for 'normal' use are more than adequate.
