Why are ABR routes exclusively Tom Tom?

Post by BobMJeffries »

I've been a subscriber since the beginning but will not be renewing this year.

I feel excluded because I use other GPS systems. Why not make .gpx files available, other magazines do?

The ones on the forum are in .GPX format. Here's the latest I found: https://adventurebikerider.com/forum/vi ... 43&t=46361

Probably because ABR is sponsored by Tom Tom.

Advertisments should be kept separate.
And not part of the articles.
As it is with this Tom Tom.

" Product placement" is our term for it.
I do not know the correct English expression

I've just searched some more and can find half a dozen routes in .GPX format. This thread seems to be a non-issue.

[Public disclosure: I do not work for: Adventure Bike Rider magazine; Adventure Bike Rider Forum; TomTom; Garmin or any other magazine or satellite navigation company. I have used a TomTom sat nav in both a car and on a bike in the past. No employees of ABR or the forum approached me to ensure I mentioned TomTom in my posting. I have not been paid for this review and all opinions are my own.]

My 2 cents.
Thank you ABR for the routes you provide for free.

I’m getting on a bit and don’t know how to transfer routes onto my Garmin.

I have to just plot a route in laboriously, town by town, which is a bit of a faff.

Can we have a tutorial for this please?

Thanks,

Graham

GPX is I would say the most standard file format for stand alone GPS units and many computer planning plateforms. TomTom and Garmin both use GPX do they not, well I know Garmin do as I am a user myseif. If by chance you need a different format use this it is pretty easy, I use it for converting KML and KMZ which Google stuff arrives in. https://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert_input
