The guy has been fortunate/good enough to have been able to do so many things that most of us can only dream of probably for free, at least, a lot of the time, good luck to him. Give him money....................eh.

Lots moaned about the way Lyndon Poskitt raised funds for his travels and Dakar attempts but at least with him you got to watch the results and he gave a great insight into the Dakar rally and last year the Africa economy race.

To me it seems odd that a three time World Enduro champion cannot get sponsorship for this. I remember seeing him interviewed once and he came across as a decent articulate bloke. I suppose it shows how little motorcycle sport is valued in this country.

Knight's estimated to have made about $US4m during his racing career. He could have made more if he'd not walked away from a very lucrative deal with BMW. I'd have thought his name alone would have been sufficient to get him some kind of sponsored ride if he wanted to do the Dakar.

Re: How about Helping this chap out
I'm confused--the entry list etc for the 2021 Dakar is already fixed with a few Brits and The courageous Mick Extance recovering from brain surgery as we all know--so looking at knighter's sponsorship page it definitely says 2021 which is an error surely--he's not on the 2021 entry list--so it must mean 2022? I agree with previous comments--if you are going to help someone then help Mick this year (2021).

I believe David Knight won the "Road to Dakar" entry for this coming Dakar so might not have been on the entry list by the closing date.
I also understand that a major sponsor has pulled out and left him with a large budget deficit, as such crowd funding might be his only reasonable hope of making the start line. There appear to be plenty of people happy to throw a few pounds and I might well do myself yet as I have in the past for other competitors, some of which have frequented this and other forums.
