Scottish MCN Motorcycle Show

Post by macvisual » Fri Feb 14, 2020 5:28 pm

Just a heads up;

Scottish MCN Motorcycle Show Sat/Sun 7th/8th March at usual location of Ingleston, beside Edinburgh airport. I've been attending for years now and must say it's a great varied show..!!

Don't forget to visit the amazing 'Classic Section' out the rear of the complex -- simply amazing machinery in all shapes/sizes/years/small & large/old and older.....!!

Should be good and hope to attend, assuming that we are not snowed in, the entrance price has crept up over the years.

Really interesting looking at the second-hand parts shed, Really interesting is the prices being charged for what sometimes is only very slightly up from junk!

Been the last few years, and while it's probably not as good value as the NEC show, it's a lot easier to get to, and I combine it with a weekend down in the Central Belt.

Dissapointed they do not have all the different types of bike starting up and having a wazz on the throttle for a minute or so out the back anymore. Always pulled a crowd hearing the weird and wonderful or just plain loud. Classics, customs, road-race, speedway, drag bikes. Loved it.

I've been going for ages but I find it to be disappointing. Many big brands are no longer turning up and while the classics hall is great, it's the same bikes every year. From what I'm told it's very expensive to set up a stand there so the bargains once available at the show haven't been around for a while.

Not long home from the MCN Scottish Motorcycle Show, must say I really enjoyed it.......as always.

Classic section out the rear brilliant as always, some amazing gleaming old machinery - stunning examples.

The two motorcycle stands that stood out FOR ME personally were both the 'Indian' and 'Royal Enfield' stands, both the R.E. Himalayan (£4195) and the Interceptor 650 are simply fabulous value for the money.

And at the Indian stand I spent quite a while speaking with Stephen (salesman) about the beautiful FTR 1200 Flat-Tracker, a 1200cc V twin, puts out a healthy 123bhp, a quirky machine alright, starting cost of 12.5k, and around 13.5 for the 1200S version. You can add your own accessories etc, there was a FTR 1200 fitted with S&S race pipes, simply amazing sound as it was fired up - wOw

Very well attended per usual, a great day out.....!!

I had a good look round the Enfield 650 when last in Aberdeen. Very well made and as you said, very good VFM.
