I've got the "STOP 'N GO POCKET TYRE PLUGGER KIT", some generic rat tails and a small compressor, only had to use it once on the bike & once on the car - won't fix a gash, but good for most piercing punctures....

My V Strom 1000 has cast wheels and it deals with green lanes fine. I run Mitas E07 tyres at the moment, good on road and on rocky lanes, bit noisey and iffy on mud.
I did a couple of lanes the other week near Chatsworth estate, at first look I though the bike would fail on the climb. But 2nd gear steady throttle and it did it, including some steps.
