Hello from Surrey

Post by Terribly Surrey » Fri Mar 29, 2013 10:15 am

Alright guys,

I'm Chris, i'm 29, I live in Surrey.

At this point I don't actually own an adventure bike. I've ridden mountain bikes all my life, put-put-putted around on a 125 for years, and made the leap to my first big bike last May. So i'm now the owner of a lovely KTM Duke. Its the absolute muts nuts, but the more I ride, the more I realise what I actually want from riding. Sadly, the Duke only ticks a couple of those boxes. Adventure bikes seem the way forward with their combination of riding position, range, adaptability, looks, and community that comes with it.

So, i'm here as a sponge to start with. I have almost zilch to offer in the way of information and genuine help. I'm just reading around trying to work out what bike to go for. At the moment, its (some what predictably, perhaps) down to the GS, or the Adventure (not this years, i'm not made of money!). I want something that's primarily a road going tourer/mule, but won't run away crying when the tarmac runs out.

Anyway, fairly length for a first post! Look forward to getting in amongst it.

Hi Ya

And welcome to the forum .

Since you have a KTM already , maybe the KTM Adventure would tick some boxes.

Anyways , enjoy the forum , there is plenty of info here to read and some banter about bikes , tyres and everything in-between.

Cheers from Aberdeen

There's loads of nice used 990 Adventures on the market now, with the 1190 just being released. Time to grab a bargain.

Cheers everyone.

Thats true of the 990. Some really lovely examples for sale on this forum alone. My current issue (aside from choice) is the outstanding finance on my current bike. Once that's resolved, I can start worrying my bank manager even further!

Hello and welcome from West Sussex, there are few lanes around Surrey and Hampshire, and as well as ABR, the local TRF group are a good source of info. :)
