ABR and Bridgestone England Coast to Coast route files

Post by Bryn »

Hey all, apologies for this being a bit late, the ABR Festival got me sidetracked! Here's the England Coast to Coast route from the July/August 2019 issue of Adventure Bike Rider magazine.

While the temptation for our English coast to coast was to head north and ride the classic route between Robin Hood's Bay and St Bees, I thought it would be cool to try something a little different than most wouldn't have considered. So, we jumped on the bikes and headed south to Keyhaven, just at the bottom of the New Forest. From here we headed north, starting off with a great breakfast at the fascinating Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum. This route is punctuated by great things to see and do, and as you ride further through Dorset you'll get to ride Zig Zag Hill, which is said to be the bendiest road in England, see Gold Hill, which gained fame for appearing in the famous Hovis advert of the '70s, and experience Stonehenge. From here, it's a pretty ride cross country to Wells, where Hot Fuzz was filmed, and Wookey Hole, before a stunning end to the ride as you journey through Cheddar Gorge and the Mendip Hills, finishing up in Portishead, just a short ride away from the M5.

If you'd like to ride this route, we've plotted it out so that you can download it and stick it in your SatNav. Simply right click on the attachment below called 'bridgestone-england-coast-to-coast.gpx' and choose 'Save Link As', once you've saved it to your computer load it into your SatNav as per the manufacturers instructions and get riding!
