ABR Issue 46 Route Files: Warwickshire Discovery Route

Post by Anthony »

In a vain attempt to be ahead of the curve, I present the latest discovery route files...

As the saying goes... sun's out, anti-tank traps out... or something like that. This short route takes you through some of Warwickshire's WW2 sites of interest with a few *easy* green lanes thrown in to boot. It's worth noting that some of the sites may need a bit of hunting for and if you don't know what to look for there's a great site http://www.pillbox-study-group.org.uk/ that is a gold mine of information about Britain's wartime defences. It's a sad fact that these historic sites are being lost to development at an alarming rate, so now is a good opportunity to see them before they are gone for ever.

The route ends at the Oxford canal near Napton but if you want to extend your trip a good bolt-on would be the scenic Cotswold discovery route featured back in issue 40, route files can be found at https://adventurebikerider.com/forum/vi ... 43&t=43541.

"The trails of the world be countless, and most of the trails be tried.

You tread on the heels of many, till you come where the ways divide.

And one lies safe in the sunlight, and the other is dreary and wan, Yet you look aslant at the Lone Trail, and the Lone Trail lures you on....

....Bid good-bye to sweetheart, bid goodbye to friend, The Lone Trail, the Lone Trail, follow to the end.

Tarry not, and fear not, chosen of the true;

Lover of the Lone Trail, The Lone Trail waits for you"
