ABR Issue 29 Route Files - The Cumbria Way

Post by Bryn »

Following on from Offa's Dyke, which we detailed in issue 28 of Adventure Bike Rider magazine, we rode the fantastic Cumbria Way in issue 29. The emphasis of these rides is on exploring our wonderful island by following one of our many long distance footpaths as closely as possible in the saddle of a bike. The Cumbria Way is a charming and scenic long distance bath that runs straight through the heart of the Lake District and allows ABRs to ride some of the UK's most fantastic roads in some of its best scenery.

We've plotted the route out so that you can download it, stick it in your SatNav and ride it. Simply right click on the attachment below called 'ABR Cumbria Way.gpx' and choose 'Save Link As', once you've saved it to your computer load it into your SatNav as per the manufacturers instructions and get riding!

Attempting to import the Cumbria .gpx route into Memory Map but the route overlay remains invisible.
I am quite used to importing .gpx files and they usually show on Mem Map Os no problem.
Any advice appreciated.

The route given follows tarmac for the whole way but there are numerous green lanes that you can include in the route - best to look at an OS map before you go and mark out the lanes that run close to the proposed route, there really are some fantastic ones.
